Project 002: Samurai. A sneak peek at the second Project Industries line

March 25, 2009

Well for those of you anxious to know more about the second Project Industries line, which apparently has some thing to do with samurai warriors, your wait is sort of over.  I've added a new photo gallery to the site featuring the preliminary design illustrations for Project 002: Samurai.  I say preliminary because as I found out with Project 001: The Vans, things can change right up to the time I go to screens.

I'm hoping to launch this line in time for autumn (how well the first line sells is a determining factor here -- I'm no Obey over here ok?) so I've gone with some colours that work with my favourite season.

Head on over to the gallery to have a look at the design and let me know what you think on the Facebook fan page wall.

Thanks for being interested.  Hell, thanks for being...
Jamie

The first sign(s) of Spring

March 24, 2009

The bright sun on my deck on Sunday made me aware that the first signs of Spring are becoming recognizable.  Each of you probably have your own visual, aural or aromatic cues that Spring is here correct?  Even if it's subconscious, there must be some sort of Spring-trigger.

Is it all the pretty people emerging from their caves?
Is it the first noisy Harley making it's way down the street, farting and belching and setting off car alarms the whole way?
Is it the blossoming...libido?

I'll tell you what I regard as the first sign of Spring for me and perhaps if you're inspired, you can use the link at the bottom of this Nog entry to share your Spring-trigger.

I live on an intersection with a roundabout in the west end of Vancouver.  Every year at this time, an older fella from across the street puts on his bright orange vest, city-worker style, and gets out there with his weeding implements and his hose to give the roundabout a good rootin'.  I rejoice when I see that guy dodging too-fast moving cars and surly teenagers (or adults acting as teens) on cruiser bikes.

One year I was on my way somewhere and he came trudging out of his place, hose in tow, vest brilliant in the sun, and I told him that he was my sure sign that Spring had arrived.  He mumbled something unintelligible and kept moving.  I think he may have tried to spit on me.

Ahhhh Spring!

I also like the smell of dirt.  One smells a lot of that this time of year with the gardens being ripped up and replanted.

What tells you Spring is here?

Say yes to sun,
Jamie

Grass.  Hells yes.

This guy knows it's Spring.  Look at him.  He just fucking knows it and he's all super happy.

What have you been listening to?

March 23, 2009

Everyone's listening to music everyday.
Right now some of the stuff I can't get enough of varies from moody late 70s/early 80s rockish stuff to electro-rockish stuff to straight up electronic stuff.  Music is the stuff people.  Music is the stuff...

  • A Place to Bury Strangers (album and artist name).  This album makes me think Bauhaus meets Joy Division meets Jesus and Mary Chain.  And when all of that meets my ears, I quiver a little inside.
  • M83 - pretty much anything except their super-mellow shit.
  • A dope track by Heights of Abraham called Sportif. It's not new, but I can't stop listening just the same.
  • There's a great track by Dan le Sac VS Scroobius Pip called Letter From God to Man out there.  It's built on a Radiohead remix for some aural sex you won't soon forget.

I'll add to that list over time I suppose.  Tell me what you're listening to on Facebook?  Maybe I'll just add to the list I have going there...

Mucho Musico,
Jamie

Truck at Disco Night back in the day.  That day was Tuesday.  Every week.  I used to lose my shit dancing to some of the funkiest tracks ever.  Every week.
Anyway, where the hell are you Truck?  I never see you anymore and I really wanted to get your permission to use this photo.  Whatever, it's a good shot of you so if you don't like it up here let's fight.

Project Industries is on the scene!

March 16, 2009

And by 'scene' I'm sure I don't have a clue what I'm going on about.  Is it even cool to say 'scene' anymore?  Anyway, whatever.  Moving on...

Well, after months and months of planning and preparing and cookies and Doritos® and sleepless nights and meetings and beers and wines and readings of Cyanide and Happiness, it's here.  Project Industries is here.

Hi.  I'm Jamie.  I run Project Industries and this is not my blog.  It's just a place where I come to type all manner of interesting and not-so-interesting stuff which you can read or not read.  So basically what I'm trying to say is this is pretty much my blog.  It's nothing more than self indulgence, but aren't all blogs to an extent?

I guess I'm going to start this whole thing off with a first entry wherein I thank everyone who is, was, and will be playing a part in the future of Project Industries as this thing moves forward.

So... yeah.  Thanks everyone!

Really. I mean it.  That exclamation mark is proof.  Just ask those who know me how frugal I am with my exclamation mark usage.  Also the font is a little bigger and it's yellow, see?  So come on, that's some serious sincerity right?  I'm not going to use caps lock; something I've always regarded as used only by the mouth-breathing helmet stands of the internet world.
At any rate, those of you who have contributed and those of you continuing to do so know who you are and, caps lock/stylized typeface or not, you have my most heartfelt thanks.

I invite you to have a poke about and see what the site has to offer.  I can't wait until there are many different styles of limited edition gear... but until then, I hope you enjoy (and even pick up some of) Project 001: The Vans.

You should totally check back often and see what's new.  You should also totally enter your email address at the bottom of any page to receive email notifications.  Don't worry, spam email is the f*cking bane of my existence too, so I'll be keeping the transmission of these to a minimum.  Rest assured people, knowing you won't be reading emails about what I had for breakfast or how long it took me to shake a wet booger off my finger while I was watching The Colbert Report the other night.  That stuff you can read about here in the Not a Blog section (which during site development I started referring to as the "Nog" section -- a name that will probably stick).  The email updates will likely only arrive when there is new stuff being released or a sale of some sort.

Thanks for stopping by my fellow Projectors.

Love,
The Management

PS: If you're a little kid too young to be exposed to swear words or an adult too sensitive or close-minded to be exposed to sometimes politically incorrect views meant to get a laugh, you might want to ask mum if it's ok to be here.
